Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole had her submit her tracks in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. Then, in December of 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had contracted to Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she guest-starred on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it came out on the 5th. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. Two more singles were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within the first week. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
