Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she won the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABC's series NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. She dreamed of becoming a court reporter during the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school and eventually gaining commercials after moving from New York. Her first role acting was as a young girl in the soap opera All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with a variety of television shows and dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. There were two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. She lost custody of her son in the year 2005.
